Universalisation of Elementary Education - RTE

Universalisation of Elementary Education i.e UEE is such an agenda which has been accepted as a National goal within the country. It has come to achieve a huge status in India and thus holds huge impact and importance, because education is very important to any country and raises the status of the country on a global level. This elementary education has been considered crucial in uplifting the process of nation building. This has been granted a constitutional status and huge importance has been laid on the implementation of education and related schemes which would lead to the development and progress of the country as a whole.

National Policy on Education which was initiated back in 1986 aimed at providing free and compulsory education of satisfactory quality to all the children upto the age of 14 years. It was aimed at providing education to all children till the benchmark of entry into 21st century. Another programme which was started in 1992 which was POA which stands for the Programme of Action, further improved the strategies within the National Policy of Education to improvise the scheme which would aid in achieving the goal.

This scheme was further carried when in 2000 it went global where 189 nations across the world signed the UN sponsored millennium declaration whose one of the primary agenda was enrolment of all children around the world into primary education under the Millennium Development Goals.

In India, the central government came forward with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in 2001, which further lead to the inclusion of free and compulsory education to all the children in the age group 6-14 years as a fundamental right. This was a great measure being taken forward which led to the grant of constitutional status to education. The article 21A was included through the amendment and this was thus a great way to create huge impact on the society as a whole.

With the implementation of several such education policies, there has been improvement in the literacy rates of the country. This has led to changes in the society and developmental status has been uplifted. This would enable in presentation of the country at a higher level in the achievement of developmental goals. Also, progress of the society is best seen when everyone in the society is well educated. It is the duty of all the educated individuals to pave the way for the education of the children. This would remove illiteracy from the society and backwardness from the society shall see the backstage.

Right to Education is thus a great way to ensure that children are being sent to schools and basic education is being provided to them which would lead to upliftment of the society and nation.
